Its great diversity in flora, fauna, geology and landscapes, turned the Cabo de Gata Natural Park into one of the most representative arid ecosystems in southeastern Spain.

 

The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is still an unspoilt coastline full of natural attractions such as ancient volcanoes, deserted coves, natural reefs and deserts. 50.000 hectares of sea and land located in the province of Almeria that for its beauty was declared Natural Park in 1987 and a Biosphere ReservebyUNESCO in 1997. The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is one of the four existing Geoparks that in Spain. Important locations: the volcanic mountain knows as Sierra de Cabo de Gata, the Salt Lakes from which salt is extracted, the shore-and steppe birds reserves.

 

Alternating with high steep cliffs profileswe find beautiful beaches and coves with fine sand and cristal clear waters. The seabeds, the underwater continuation of thevolcanic Cabo de Gata, are of extreme beauty. Confluence of seas, are supported by a wide variety of fauna and plants of great interest to the visitor.

 

Las Negras, is located in the heart of the Natural Park Cabo de Gata - Nijar. Nearby we have the villages of Rodalquilar (castle, botanic garden, gold mines), San José, La Isleta del Moro, Agua Amarga, Nijar (ceramic and textile crafts) and its spectacular sandy beaches: Oasis de San Pedro (nudist beach and boot trips), Playa de los Muertos, Playazo beach, Playa del Cuervo, Los Escullos, Cala del Plomo, Monsúl (sand dunes), Genoves, Media Luna etc.

 

 

The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is located in the coastal area of the Almeria region in Andalusia. Andalusia is the largest and most Southern part of the Spanish Mainland. With an area of 87.268 km², representing 17,"% of its territory. The variety, extention and ecological richness of the Andalusian territories meets the highest peaks of the Iberian Peninsula in Sierra Nevada, extensive wetlands, thick end shady forests, volanic deserts and coastal sections with little human trace.
